My name is Martin,

I am a student at ITB (Institute of Technology Blanchardstown) in Dublin.

I am studying Creative Digital Media. I, like many others in Ireland was effected by the current recession as I had been working in the construction industry for many years. I was given an opportunity to sit some night classes at ITB through their start over program, and was a bit worried if I would still be up to academic study.  I had not been in a classroom situation since 1992. Well I was worrying for no real reason as I took to it like a Duck to water, and enjoyed every minute of it.  I did a course on Web Development, and a course on Computer Systems. When these courses had finished, I wanted to do more modules of the same courses.  One of my lecturers suggested that I apply for full-time education. I never thought that I would have that opportunity before, and it didn’t look like the Construction Industry would be back on the up in the near future, so I applied for a place through the CAO as a mature student, and here I am.

This is a fun course using different medias and getting involved with a lot of stuff that I already did as a hobby. Recording, Photography, Sound Engineering, Video work, Websites etc.

I’d recommend this course to anyone.  Lucky old me, well not that old, but not too young to appreciate what I’ve got.
